How to Make a Christmas Tree Stand
With Christmas fast approaching (I can’t believe that it is December in a couple of days time) I thought it would be a good idea this week to look at a festive woodwork project for you to tackle over the next couple of weeks. I am indebted to our friends at Lowe’s for this four step video course that takes us simply through what at first glance seems quite an intimidating project.

As ever the secret to tackling a complex project is to break it down into simple steps. Hence without any more ado lets get into video one that looks at the project overview and starts to mark up the main wood parts. As this project uses a lot of circular elements a tool known as a ’Beam compass’ is used for marking up.
Step two of the process is to build the drum base and interior surrounds.
Now we are starting to see out Christmas tree stand take shape. In the next video we focus on the drum skin.
Now we are on the home stretch. In video four we go through the finishing touches.
A fine looking Christmas tree stand I am sure you will agree. It certainly looks better (and is more sturdy) than some of the contraptions I have used in previous years.
